WACO, TX – With last week’s top 10 teams all winning this weekend, IUP remains ranked No. 8 in the American Football Coaches Association (AFCA) Division II Top 25 Poll, released on Monday.
The Crimson Hawks moved to 2-0 with a decisive 49-0 win at home over Cheyney on Saturday. De’Antwan Williams (Woodbridge, VA/Woodbridge) ran for three touchdowns, all in the first quarter, and quarterback Mike Box (Lawrenceville, GA/Collins Hill) threw for three more in the 2013 home opener.
IUP received 560 points in the voting, 16 behind Minnesota-Duluth for seventh. Valdosta State, idle last week, garnered 28 first place votes to remain atop the poll. Minnesota State-Mankato grabbed three first place votes and is second. Northwest Missouri comes in at three while West Texas A&M is fourth and Colorado State-Pueblo, with one first place vote, is fifth. Missouri Western is sixth while Henderson State and Grand Valley State follow IUP in ninth and 10th, respectively.
IUP is among three Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) schools in the top 25, with Bloomsburg coming in at No. 13 and West Chester is 20th.
The Crimson Hawks look to go 3-0 as they travel to Greensburg, Pa. to face Seton Hill in their PSAC West opener.
