Sidney Crosby may be the most untouchable player on the Pens with the most talent. However, Evgeni Malkin is clearly the workhorse for the Penguins as he has carried this team when 87 has been injured. Malkin was chosen second overall in the 2004 NHL Draft by the Pittsburgh Penguins.
In his Rookie campaign, Malkin captured the Calder Memorial Trophy as the league’s best rookie. In his second season, he helped carry the Penguins to the 2008 Stanley Cup Final series . The following season, Malkin won the Art Ross Trophy, awarded to the top-scorer in the NHL. He and the Penguins won the Stanley Cup championship as Malkin walked away with the Conn Smythe Trophy. A second Art Ross Trophy was earned after the 2011–12 season and on June 20, 2012, as Malkin was named the Hart Memorial Trophy winner as the league’s MVP.
Malkin is a man that let’s his actions speak louder than his words as he continues to be one of best players in the NHL today as he exemplifies amazing talent on the ice and pure professionalism off the ice. Vladimir Malkin is the jovial father that every son wants at their games, as he has become quite recognizable in the city of Pittsburgh.
Furthermore, there is no reason for Vladimir Malkin to be conducting interviews involving his son’s playing career when the point is moot as Evgeni Malkin’s new eight-year contract extension worth $76 million means that Evgeni Malkin in all likelihood will be retiring as a Penguin. The Penguins are a top-flight organization and the last thing they want to deal with is rumors involving one of their top stars. However, Pittsburgh will now be involved in a very public tampering case with training camp right around the corner. The last time I can remember a father speaking his mind about his sons career didn’t end well for the Lindros family.
Lets not get crazy, I am not comparing Lindros’ Career to that of Evgeni Malkin’s. I am simply saying, be quiet, pops.
