The multimedia rights holder of Duquesne Athletics will grant the radio rights to Duquesne men’s basketball, among other teams and coaches specials, to 1320 WJAS AM and ESPN Radio 970 AM, according to the university’s press release Friday afternoon.
Learfield Sports’ DUQS Sports Properties entered into a three-year agreement with the Dukes’ athletic department that will allow iHeart Media Pittsburgh to air live game broadcasts, coaches’ shows and daily Duquesne programming throughout the season. Talk Radio 1320 WJAS and iHeartRadio will broadcast Duquesne football and men’s basketball. ESPN 970 AM will air Duquesne football coaches’ shows, men’s and women’s basketball coaches’ shows and the Duquesne Minute daily feature.
David Harper, Duquesne’s new athletic director, commented in the press release that the partnership will provide extensive coverage for fans and will create exposure for the university and its student-athletes and coaches. Harper was hired earlier this month, replacing former athletic director Greg Amodio. Amodio left Duquesne for the same job at Quinnipiac.
The Dukes begin their 2015-16 basketball season with a home contest against Urbana on November 10 at the A.J. Palumbo Center in Pittsburgh. The football team will face Bucknell, their first FCS opponent today, this afternoon. The Dukes are 1-0 after a season opening-win over NAIA squad Kentucky Christian.
