New Robert Morris head coach John Banaszak finally has his quarterback as he prepares for his first game as the Colonials head coach.
That man is redshirt freshman Luke Brumbaugh.
The Seton LaSalle product won the job after a long battle that cumulated with Thursday night’s scrimmage.
“We went in with three quarterbacks we are very excited about,” said Banaszak. “All three compete very hard. When you have competition at every position that usually makes you a very good football team.”
Brumbaugh’s name should be familiar to local football fans as he comes from a long line of quarterbacks.
His older brother Christian was a standout quarterback at South Fayette and is now at William & Mary, while his younger brother Brett is an outstanding quarterback at South Fayette, preparing to enter his senior season. The younger Brumbaugh is almost certain to break the WPIAL passing record this upcoming season.
As for Luke, he had quite the high school career for himself, finishing his career with 3,334 yards passing and 34 touchdown passes at Seton LaSalle from 2010-12, also adding 15 rushing touchdowns.
The two-time all-conference selection will see his first collegiate game action on Thursday when FCS powerhouse Eastern Kentucky visits Joe Walton Stadium Thursday night.
