Duquesne’s losing streak stretched to nine games Saturday night with a 68-60 loss before 4,991 people at the Reilly Center in Olean, NY. Duquesne (7-14, 0-7) remains the only team in the Atlantic 10 without a conference win.
Duquesne was plagued by some rough patches early on that eventually lost them the game. They committed 10 turnovers in the first half and failed to complete a 2nd half rally, despite coming to within four with 1:06 to play. Ferry pointed out the turnovers as the main culprit behind the loss.
In addition to the turnovers, Duquesne was outrebounded 35-24. St. Bonaventure (10-10, 3-4) also made a season high 12 3-pointers. Eric Mosley led the home team with 14 points. Pantophlet, Jeremiah Jones, and Sean Johnson each had 11 points apiece for Duquesne. Colter chalked up 10 points and seven assists, upping his assist total to 106 on the season.
Duquesne shot fairly well from behind the arc, shooting 11 of 24. Unfortunately they were only able to make nine field goals of the 2-point variety. The Dukes gradually cleaned up their act after going down early on by a score of 22-13 but still fell short of a win. All of their turnovers came in the 1st half.
Andre Marhold again saw limited court time. He was only in the game for nine minutes, during which he scored 2 points and picked up 3 personal fouls. Quevyn Winters only saw four minutes of action, a season low. Four of Duquesne’s five starters (who each received at least 29 minutes apiece) scored in the double digits.
Duquesne will face St. Bonaventure again this year at the Palumbo Center on February 23rd. They face George Washington at home on Wednesday.
