It’s another win for the hometown Passion, defeating the New York Sharks 21-6. Quarterback Lisa Horton has led her team to an undefeated season thus far and had a 149-yard game this evening. The Passion rushing game dominated the Sharks’ defense with a total of 226-rushing yards and three rushing touchdowns.
Running Back, Ciara Chic played a vital role in the victory over the Sharks with a personal best 42-yard run that helped her achieve a 145-yard rushing game. She began the game strong, rushing for a 16-yard touchdown to start off early in the first quarter. Fullback, Kadesha Clark ran the ball in for a touchdown soon after Chic to make the score 14-0 in favor of the Passion. Tailback, Sonya Osselborn continued the strong rushing performance with a 63-yard game, including one touchdown run for six-yards in the third quarter.
The Passion was defensively strong with two interceptions and two fumble recoveries against the Sharks. Linebacker Olivia Griswold led the defense with seven tackles, one punt block, and one fumble recovery. Defensive End Jessica Nelko followed with four tackles and one fumble recovery, while Free Safety Alex McAtee had six tackles and one interception. Finally cornerback, Krissy Edmonds rounded out the power of the defense with five tackles and one interception. Wide Receiver, Rachel Wojdowski also became the first Passion player to reach the career milestone of 2,000 receiving yards by the end of the game.
Special Teams continued their success this season, Kicker Amy Fallon continued her streak, ending the game three-for-three in extra points. Amanda Haeg also had an impressive night on special teams, recording 42 total return yards for the Passion.
The Pittsburgh Passion (6-0) will have a bye week this upcoming week and then host their final regular season home game on Saturday, June 7th at 7:00pm.
