Saturday June 23rd, the Pittsburgh Passion will host the First Round of Playoffs for the 2012 Mid Atlantic Division of the Northern Conference in the Women’s Football Alliance. The 7–1 Passion will host the 8–0 Detroit Dark Angels at Franklin Regional High School, 3210 School Road, Murrysville, PA, 15668. Kickoff at 5pm on June 23rd.
The winner of the First Round will advance to play the DC Divas on Saturday June 30th. This is the Passion’s 5th Playoff Berth in the last six seasons. The franchise finished 7–1 on the Regular Season after defeating the Philadelphia Liberty Belles, 50–0. The Passion has won 42 of its last 48 regular season games with an 87.5 winning percentage.
In 2012, Lisa Horton had a career season with 1329 passing yards and 19 touchdown passes. Amanda Haeg led the team with 393 rushing yards and 594 receiving yards. Rachel Wojdowski reached a Passion record of 10 touchdown receptions. Lyndsi Hughes had 17 receptions for 331 yards. Sisters Olivia and Octavia Griswold led the Defense, with 47 and 38 tackles respectively. Beth Amato recorded 33 tackles. Sharon Vasquez led the team in interceptions with 4 picks, returning 2 for touchdowns. Kicker Amy Fallon reached a Passion record with 41 of 46 extra points.
