We know about what the Penguins are doing, but what about the prospects? We take a look at three up and three down.
Three Up
Dominik Simon
The Pittsburgh Penguins saw a potential late bloomer in Dominik Simon, drafting the Czech forward in June at 20 years old. Simon seems to be quickly adjusting to the North American style of play, ranking second on the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins in both goals and points with four and six, respectively, in 10 games.
Anthony Angello
Anthony Angello, a 6’5”, 205 lbs. USHL product needed no time to adjust to the NCAA. The former sixth rounder co-leads the Cornell Big Red with three goals and six points in four games, including two goals in a 4-3 win over Princeton on Saturday. At only 19 years old, be sure to keep tabs on the developing freshman.
Tom Kuhnhackl
After missing the start of a vital season with injury, Wilkes-Barre/Scranton veteran Tom Kuhnhackl returned to the lineup and made a noticeable impact, scoring three goals and finishing with seven points in only fives games. After two so-so years in Wilkes-Barre/Scranton, the Penguins hope the German left winger finally finds a scoring touch demonstrated in juniors.
Three Down
Dominik Uher
The arrival of Simon and Swedish center Oskar Sundqvist took away some playing time from Wilkes-Barre/Scranton veteran Dominik Uher, but with no goals and only two assists in nine games to open 2015–16, the Czech forward hopes to avoid slipping further down the depth chart, especially after appearing in two games with Pittsburgh last season.
Josh Archibald
A former Hobey Baker finalist and prolific NCAA scorer, Josh Archibald sputtered last season after turning professional and earned a demotion to the Wheeling Nailers. Looking to rebound in 2015–16, so far Archibald boasts only one assist in nine games.
Teddy Blueger
Minnesota State senior Teddy Blueger currently ranks fourth on the Mavericks with five points in 10 games. While not necessarily bad, the Penguins hoped to see a degree of dominance from the 2012 52nd overall pick.
