Penn State wide receiver Geno Lewis announced Monday morning that he will transfer and play his final year of eligibility in a graduate program at Oklahoma University.
Announced in a tweet that can be seen below, Lewis was appreciative of his time at Penn State, and thanked his teammates, coaches, trainers, and academic advisors for all that they have done for him through the past four years, but acknowledged that it is time “to move on to the next chapter” of his life.
Lewis, a three-year starter for Penn State, battled with Chris Godwin for playing time in 2015, but was still was a major contributor for the Nittany Lions, and was a favorite target for former quarterback Christian Hackenberg. The redshirt junior was the team’s second leading receiver in 2014. In 2015, the Wilkes-Barre native received 17 passes for 196 yards and three touchdowns, including a score in the TaxSlayer Bowl.
The four-star high school prospect ended his career at Penn State with 90 career catches for 1,181 yards and eight touchdowns.
Lewis, who graduated in December with a bachelor’s degree in Human Development and Family Studies, will pursue a graduate degree that is not offered at Penn State.
The Penn State football program has not yet released a statement regarding Lewis’ transfer.
