“Pittsburgh Gold” is back. The Penguins hugely popular throwback alternate jerseys that were introduced last season will make a return appearance for the 2015-16 campaign, the team announced on Thursday.
The Penguins will wear their third sweaters 11 times at Consol Energy Center this season:

Wed. Nov. 11 vs. Montreal
Tue. Nov. 17 vs. Minnesota
Sat. Nov. 28 vs. Edmonton
Fri. Dec. 18 vs. Boston
Sat. Jan. 2 vs. New York Islanders
Thurs. Jan. 21 vs. Philadelphia
Wed. Feb. 10 vs. New York Rangers
Sat. Feb. 27 vs. Winnipeg
Thu. Mar. 3 vs. New York Rangers
Sun. Mar. 20 vs. Washington
In addition, the Pens will don their black and gold outfits on the road one time, against the Detroit Red Wings on New Year’s Eve.
The popular jerseys are very closely based on the design that the team wore from 1988 to 1992, including each of the team’s first two Stanley Cup wins.
The Pens wore their new jerseys 12 times in 2014-15, as well, and had a 5-5-2 record in their alternate jerseys.
MINOR MATTERS: The WBS Penguins announced their training camp roster today. 22 players with start camp with the Baby Pens, including Robert Morris alum Cody Wydo and former Youngstown Phantom Ty Loney.
