Pittsburgh Penguins (42-25-8)
The Penguins, who are coming off of a stellar over tie win against the New York Rangers, will have the Buffalo Sabres to deal with this evening in Pittsburgh. The Penguins need to prevent themselves from underestimating their competition and put together a solid win.
With Matt Murray in-between the pipes for Pittsburgh this evening, the offense must be able to continue their dominance and find an early lead. “[Sitting often has] been a different challenge I think. I kind of went through it a little bit early last year in my rookie season in the American [Hockey] League. So it’s not a new thing but it’s never easy.”
Buffalo Sabres (31-35-10)
The Sabres have been involved in very close games in their last nine. The defense has been one of Buffalo’s biggest reasons for keeping games so narrow. If the Sabres want a chance against the Penguins, they must corral the puck and prevent Pittsburgh from getting any rebounds.
The Sabres did not hold a morning skate and Coach Dan Bylsma said that forward Evander Kane will not be in the lineup after sustaining an upper-body injury last night in the second period against Detroit.
Prediction
The Penguins will take advantage of a team that has struggled for a good portion of the season. Add in the injury to the Sabres’ forward, Kane, it will make the task all that much more difficult for Buffalo.
Pittsburgh will finish their best month of hockey with a 4-1 win and Murray will shine once again picking up his fifth win of the season.
