New Pitt head coach Pat Narduzzi has been a very busy man the past week, hot on the recruiting trail as he has landed a couple of quality recruits in very short time.
The latest is a local product at a position where the Panthers are extremely thin.
We learned on Monday that Pine-Richland quarterback Ben DiNucci announced that he will be attending Pitt this fall.
DiNucci decommitted from Penn and is a nice grab for Narduzzi at the late hour.
As a senior, DiNucci became the first Pennsylvania quarterback to throw for over 4,000 yards in a season.
DiNucci, the Gatorade Pennsylvania player of the year, is coming off a big season in which he threw 4,269 passing yards and 46 passing touchdowns while leading Pine Richland to the PIAA state finals.
He becomes the third scholarship quarterback on the Panthers roster, behind starter Chad Voytik and redshirt freshman Adam Bertke.
In other recruiting news, Kittanning tight end Nick Bowers, who was committed to Pitt for almost a full calendar year, decommitted and flipped to Penn State.
Bowers is the third recruit of former head coach Paul Chryst to decommit since Chryst left to take the Wisconsin job.
