The Pirates have acquired RHP John Axford from the Cleveland Indians in a waiver claim.
The move was first reported by Ken Rosenthal and confirmed by Buster Olney.

In 49 games with the Indians this season, Axford is 2-3 with a 3.92 ERA in 43 2/3 IP with a 1.466 WHIP and 51 strikeouts.
Axford is used to pitching in the NL Central as he spent four and a half seasons with the Brewers before being traded to the Cardinals late in the 2013 season.
