The Pittsburgh Pirates announced on Friday that they have signed RHP Wilfredo Boscan and LHP Charlie Leesman to minor league contracts with invitations to Major League camp.
Boscan, 25, posted a 3.66 ERA with 48 strikeouts and 17 walks in 22 appearances (66 1/3 innings) between Class AA Portland and Class AAA Pawtucket (Red Sox). Boscan has spent eight years in the minors between the San Diego Padres, Texas Rangers and Boston Red Sox.
Leesman, 27, made one start for the Chicago White Sox last season lasting 2 2/3 innings while allowing six runs (all earned) on nine hits while walking one and allowing a home run. He made eight appearances (one start) in the Majors in 2013 where he posted a 7.04 ERA while striking out 13 and walking 16 in 15 1/3 innings.
The Pirates also invited INF Stetson Allie, OF Keon Broxton, RHP Tyler Glasnow, INF Gift Ngoepe, OF Mel Rojas Jr. and RHP Adrian Sampson to big league camp.
The first official workout for pitchers and catchers is February 19th at Pirates City in Bradenton, Florida,

Travis Sawchik of the Trib reports sources say it will be in the $5 million-per-year range.

Apparently, talks between the Pirates and Kang’s agent, Alan Nero have gone smoothly as Nero told Bill Brink of the PG.
“At this point, I feel confident we’ll come to an agreement,” Nero said to the Post Gazette. “The process has been very positive.”
Look for a deal to possibly be done by next week.
