The Pittsburgh Pirates announced today parking and traffic information and tips for fans attending the game against the Cincinnati Reds on Saturday, August 30, at 4:05 p.m. Pirates fans should be aware of traffic and parking challenges presented by the Pirates’ 4:05 p.m. first pitch, which is the result of the game being selected for national telecast on FOX Sports 1, coupled with the University of Pittsburgh football game against the Delaware Fightin’ Blue Hens at Heinz Field beginning at noon.
Due to the concurrent events and limited parking, all parking in lots and garages on the North Shore will be closed to “cash” parkers for the Pirates game. All fans who do not have a pre-sold hang tag for the August 30 Pirates game will not be permitted to enter the North Shore. Beginning at 2 p.m., the City of Pittsburgh Police Department will permit entry to the North Shore only to fans displaying pre-sold parking passes. Those fans without a pre-sold parking pass are asked to use one of the many parking alternatives downtown, starting as low as $5.
The Pirates strongly encourage all fans to arrive as early as possible. The team recommends Pirates fans with pre-sold parking to arrive on the North Shore before 3 p.m. as pre-sold parking in assigned lots and garages is limited. If an assigned lot is full, fans with pre-sold parking may have to park in an alternate North Shore location for this game. If that is the case, fans will be directed by Pittsburgh Police or Alco Parking attendants to the closest neighboring North Shore lot where their pre-sold tag will be honored.
Gates to PNC Park will open at 2:30 p.m. with pregame ceremonies scheduled to begin at approximately 3:30 p.m.
