While things haven’t exactly gone according to plan for Paul Chryst’s Pitt Panthers the past three weeks and some have already begun looking towards the future, at least Pitt fans will know who will be on the schedule the next two years.
The Panthers announced on Tuesday that they will play the Marshall Thundering Herd in a home-and-home series, beginning in 2016.
Pitt will play Marshall of Conference USA on Oct. 1, 2016, at Heinz Field. The Panthers will travel to Marshall in 2020.
The addition of the Thundering Herd completes the Panthers non-conference schedule for the next two years.
Next year, Pitt’s non-conference opponents include the opener against Youngstown State on Sept. 5; road games at Akron and Iowa on Sept. 12 and 19; and Notre Dame visits Heinz Field on Nov. 7.
The following season, the Panthers will open Sept. 3 against Villanova at Heinz Field before resuming the Penn State series for the first time since 2000 on Sept. 10, also at home. Pitt visits Oklahoma State on Sept. 17 and wraps things up with Marshall on Oct. 1.
That 2016 schedule should shape up to be pretty tough as in addition to their normal ACC contests, Pitt also has a road game at Clemson that year as their ACC crossover opponent.
