The Pitt Panthers basketball team announced their 2014-15 non-conference schedule on Tuesday and it has a little bit better look than in years past.
Instead of the totally soft out of conference schedule that Jamie Dixon often comes under criticism for, the Panthers schedule includes their first-ever Maui Invitational appearance and a road game at Indiana as part of the Big 10-ACC Challenge.
Pitt will play eight home non-conference tilts and 11 of Pitt’s potential non-conference opponents were ranked among the nation’s top-150 in RPI last season.
As part of the Maui Invitational, the Panthers will play three games from Nov. 24-26 with potential opponents including: Arizona, San Diego State, Kansas State, Missouri, BYU, Purdue and host Chaminade.
The Panthers will open their season against Niagara on Friday, Nov. 14 at the Petersen Events Center.
Pitt’s ACC schedule was released back in April but the dates and tipoff times will be released at a later date.
