After weeks of trying to figure out which bowl game the Pitt Panthers would be heading to in Pat Narduzzi’s first season, Panther fans finally got their answer.
They likely aren’t happy.
It was announced on Sunday that Pitt (8-4, 6-2 ACC) will head to the Military Bowl December 28 in Annapolis, Maryland.
Awaiting the Panthers will be No. 21 Navy and their triple-option attack.
This isn’t likely the destination most people predicted for the Panthers as they likely earned a better postseason fate than the one they got.
The game will be played at Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium and televised on ESPN.
This will be the second time this season that the Panthers will have to face a triple-option attack, meaning that is two more times than any coach would like. Pitt defeated Georgia Tech earlier in the season, the first time they got a look at the triple option.
That also means the Panthers will have to deal with dynamic Navy quarterback Keenan Reynolds.
The Midshipmen (9-2, 7-1 in AAC) are no strangers to the Pitt program as the Panthers are 22-14-1 against Navy with a 10-7-1 mark on the road.
Last year’s Military Bowl saw Virginia Tech defeat Cincinnati 33-27.
