As soon as former Pitt head coach Paul Chryst announced his decision to take the Wisconsin job, you knew it wouldn’t be long before it had an impact on the current recruiting class.
It happened rather quickly as the Panthers have had a pair of commits already re-opened their recruitments.
Rob Dowdy, a three star linemen from Ohio, and Sekai Lindsay, a three star running back from Florida have officially de-committed from Pitt.
Dowdy is a big and physical lineman that Chryst loved and Lindsay is a very talented back. It’s possible the new coach coming in could get them back, but for now they are no longer a part of Pitt’s class.
There has been some good news in terms of recruiting since the Chryst move became official.
Quadree Henderson, Tre Tipton, Dane Jackson, and Jordan Whitehead have all reaffirmed their commitments over social media, so at least for now the Panthers are retaining some of their top recruits.
Unlike the Todd Graham scenario, I wouldn’t expected a mass exodus as many knew Chryst leaving was coming. There may be a couple more to de-commit, but I wouldn’t expect many.
Pitt’s new coach will have about a month after their bowl game to sure up the recruiting class, so whoever that person may be, he is going to have to get busy quickly.
