Dorian Johnson, the second best recruit at offensive tackle according to ESPN, is now considered a top-tier athlete. Rivals.com awarded him with a 5-star rating today.
Johnson, the Belle Vernon, PA native, committed to Pitt over Ohio State back in November. Originally he was commited to Penn State but decommitted earlier in the season. Johnson stands 6’6″ and weighs in at 285 pounds. Johnson has a lot of quickness even with his size. His biggest praise this off-season has been his footwork. He’s very athletic and very smart to boot. There are very high expectations for him coming out of high school. Some even regard him as a future All-American. He’s been compared to Jets tackle D’Brickashaw Ferguson.
ESPN also has him listed as the 29th best recruit overall in their top 150.
He was previously ranked #168 and is now #31 on Rivals top 100, the second biggest jump ever on the list.
He was offered by teams like back-to-back National Champions Alabama, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Penn State, Michigan State, and West Virginia.
Johnson is the first 5-star since the Panthers landed wide receiver Jonathan Baldwin back in 2008.
