Friday afternoon the Pitt Panthers got good news on the recruiting front when they received verbal commitments from four-star prospect George Hill and highly regarded cornerback Henry Miller.
Panthers head coach Pat Narduzzi once again reached beyond the state of Pennsylvania to land Hill and Miller with Hill coming from Hubbard, Ohio and Miller heading north from the talent-rich state of Florida.
Hill, a former Ohio State commit, immediately becomes one of the gems of the 2016 class. Although considered one of the top running back prospects in the country, Hill is expected to play defensive back for the Panthers.
In an interview with Pantherlair’s Chris Peak, Hill explained how his relationship with Narduzzi impacted his decision to decommit from the Buckeyes and choose Pitt over his other finalist the Michigan State Spartans.
“I’ve always had a great relationship with him,” Hill said. “He’s been recruiting me since I was a sophomore. He’s a sincere coach and he’s going to tell you the good and the bad; he’s going to be honest with you. He was the first one to offer me at Michigan State, so for him to go to Pitt and talk to me, I have a good relationship with him. He’s sincere and he’s a good coach, so that helped and it’s just a good fit for me.”
Florida native Miller adds more talent to the secondary after choosing the Panthers over the likes of Rutgers, NC State, Wisconsin and Michigan State. Considered a three-star recruit by both Rivals and Scout.com, Miller combines great size (6’3, 195) with outstanding coverage skills to project as a cornerback for the Panthers.
With the the commitments of out-of-state talents Hill and Miller, the Panthers now have gone outside the state of Pennsylvania for 13 of their 18 verbals in the 2016 class.
