The Pitt Panthers had to sweat things out until Selection Sunday to learn its fate for the NCAA Tournament, but the wait is finally over for Jamie Dixon’s bunch as the Panthers will indeed be going dancing.
Pitt ends up as a No. 10 seed in the East region where it will face No. 7 seeded Wisconsin in the first round in St. Louis on Friday.
The Panthers finished the regular season with a 21-11 record.
Meanwhile the Badgers finished the season 20-12.
If the Panthers can get by Wisconsin, they will face the winner of No. 2 Xavier and No. 15 Weber State.
Kansas was awarded the tournament’s overall No. 1 seed. The Jayhawks are joined as No.1 seeds by North Carolina, Virginia and Oregon.
