Jamie Dixon’s Pitt Panthers still have a while to wait before they begin their first season of ACC competition, but at least they know who they will be playing.
The ACC announced its opponents and game sites for the 2013-14 University of Pittsburgh men’s basketball season on Tuesday and the highlight of the Panthers schedule features home games against Duke and Syracuse.
Pitt will open ACC play next year with an 18-game regular season schedule and will face each of the possible 14 opponents at least once. Additionally, Pitt will face four of those schools on two occasions: Clemson, Maryland, North Carolina State and Syracuse.
The Panthers will play nine home games and nine away contests during league regular season competition. Home opponents at the Petersen Events Center include: Clemson, Duke, Florida State, Maryland, North Carolina State, Virginia, Virginia Tech, Wake Forest and Syracuse.
The Duke game obviously stands out as Pitt will host the Blue Devils for the first time since 1980.
The Panthers’ 2013-14 road opponents include: Clemson, Boston College, Maryland, Miami, Georgia Tech, North Carolina, North Carolina State, Notre Dame and Syracuse.
The season will conclude with the 2014 ACC Tournament, which is scheduled for March 12-16 at Greensboro Coliseum.
