Now that March Madness is at the field of 32, we’ve decided why not have a “Pittsburgh March Madness.” Our city is filled with athletes, announcers and coaches that can’t be matched by any other city in the country.
When it’s all said and done, who is the ultimate champion of Pittsburgh?
In order to figure this out, we put our collective heads together and came up with a list of the 64 most prominent athletes, players and coaches in Pittsburgh history. Then, in NCAA tournament fashion, we divided them into four regions (North Side, South Side, Mt. Washington and Station Square) and put 16 people ranked from one to 16 in each region.
While Pittsburgh has been the home to many athletes, in order to qualify for the competition, the participant must have either played, coached or announced for the Pirates, Steelers, Penguins or Pitt Panthers.
It’s up to you, the fans, to vote and crown the ultimate champion of Pittsburgh!
