Pirates top prospect Gregory Polanco was named the International League (AAA) Player of the Week for the first week of the season.
The Indianapolis Indian outfielder went 14-for-28 (.500) with a double, 2 triples, a home run, 2 walks, a stolen bases, 6 runs and 7 RBI. He also threw out a runner at the plate from deep right field.
With Jameson Taillon out for the year with Tommy John surgery, Polanco will be focal point of the fan base until his expected call up mid-June.
