The Pittsburgh Power have been on a hot streak as of late. A large part of their 3-1 record comes from their strong defensive play.
This past win, which came on Friday, defensive back Virgil Gray set a franchise record by picking off three passes in a 56-14 win over the New Orleans VooDoo. He racked up 82 return yards on the three interceptions while adding two tackles and batting down a pass in the win.
The 5-foot-10, 190-pound defensive back from Rhode Island has had an interception in each of the Power’s four games this season and has one in each of his last eight games, dating back to last season.
In addition to personal stats, Gray helps head a defense which is allowing just 15.5 points per game in the last two contests.
For his strong performance, Gray is this week’s Pittsburgh Sporting News player of the week.
