As PSAC action continues to heat up, the past week has produced a three-way tie atop the PSAC leader board between Gannon, No. 25 IUP and Mercyhurst.
Gannon’s recent struggles continued as the Golden Knights split a pair of games this past week. IUP and Mercyhurst both won of their games. Mercyhurst is on a five-game winning streak.
Gannon lost to Cal in OT and ended its 5-0 mark when leading at halftime. The loss also lost for the first time at home in the past seven games. Senior Adam Blazek, though, continued to move up on the scoring list as he passed Rick Bush and now sits in 14th place all-time in school history.
IUP continues to get stellar play from point guard Devante Chance, who recorded his third double-double of the season with 19 points and 10 assists in a win over Pitt-Johnstown.
Mercyhurst won both of its games by a combined 33 points in two team efforts.
Performance of the Week:
Edinboro’s Henri Wade-Chatman scored 27 points in a 16-point win over Pitt-Johnstown. It was his ninth 20-point performance of the season and he continues to lead the PSAC West in scoring.
Other notable performances:
– Slippery Rock’s Frank Holloway averaged 17.0 points and 8.5 rebounds in two wins for The Rock. He scored 18 points (12 in the first half) and pulled down seven rebounds in a win against Cal. He followed that up with 16 points and 12 rebounds against Clarion. He was named the PSAC West Player of the Week.
– Pitt-Johnstown’s Dale Clancy averaged 10.0 points per game while scoring 15 against Edinboro. He was named the PSAC West Freshman of the Year.
– Edinboro’s Casey Baker posted a double-double of 19 points and 10 rebounds.
