Another week has come and gone in the PSAC West on the hardwood. IUP and Slippery Rock are slowly edging out in front of the pack. IUP is 6-0 and 2-0 in the PSAC while Slippery Rock is 6-1 and 2-0 in the PSAC.
Here’s the rundown.
As of the November 26th NCAA.com D2 rankings, IUP sat at #10 in the coaches poll and
IUP added two of their six wins this past week. They beat Shaw 74-57 and University of the Sciences (Phil.) 72-59. Big man Marcel Souberbielle led the way with 20 points and 4 rebounds in the win on Monday and Devante Chance scored 17 points and grabbed 6 boards in the Sunday win.
Slippery Rock only played once this past week, but it toppled Lake Erie College 75-55. Josh Martin led the way with 18 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists.
Edinboro sits at 4-1 but 0-1 in the PSAC. They picked up a sound 101-65 win over Penn State New Kensington. Five players were in double figures but were led by Johnathan Logan’s 21.
Pitt-Johnstown is slowly creeping up in the rankings with a 4-2 record (1-1 PSAC). They picked up one win in two games this past week. In their first game, a 74-68 loss to the University of the Sciences, Ian Vescovi scored 15 points and snagged 9 rebounds. Bill Luther put up 22 points in the 83-74 victory over Shaw.
Seton Hill is right behind Pitt-Johnstown at 4-2 (1-1 PSAC). They also went 1-1 this past week with a loss to Ashland (Oh.) and a victory over Ohio Dominican. In the 80-75 loss, Noah Davis scored 24 points off the bench. Kameron Taylor dropped 26 points in the 88-76 victory.
Gannon (2-2, 1-1) started the week out with a 65-62 loss toLe Moyne but pulled out a one-point 55-54 win over Alderson Broaddus to close the week. Adam Blazek scored 17 in the loss and Matthew Dogan scored 13 in the win to lead Gannon.
Mercyhurst, while 1-0 in the PSAC, is just 2-3 overall. They helped their cause with a 77-52 victory over Urbana this past week. Callon Dailey led the way with 15 points.
Clarion is near the bottom of the division with an 0-2 record in the PSAC and a 1-2 record overall. Their only game this week was postponed due to inclement weather.
Cal U sits at the bottom of the division as they sit 0-2 in the PSAC and 1-5 overall. They dropped their only game of the week to West Virginia Wesleyan, 76-61. Alonzo Murphy had 13 points in the loss.
