The PSAC West is done for 2013. As they advance into the 2014 portion of the season, some teams will be focusing on the postseason while some will be looking to salvage a slow start.
IUP (10-0) maintained its perfect record as they picked up wins over Millersville ((74-57), Shippensburg (77-46) and Kutztown (88-56). Mathis Keita led the way, averaging 19.0 points over the three games.
Slippery Rock (10-3) is still trying to keep pace with IUP, but only picked up two wins in the three games they played over the past two weeks. The Rock’s wins came against West Chester (62-60) and Cheyney (94-70). Mauric Lewis-Briggs averaged 18.0 points during the stretch.
Pitt-Johnstown (8-3) kept on track, winning three games in the past two weeks of action. They knocked off Shippensburg (69-53), Kutztown (86-75) and Mansfield (91-74). Ian Vescovi averaged 20.6 points over the stretch.
Seton Hill (8-3) also picked up three wins during the two week stretch. The Griffins beat Cheyney (64-63), Millersville (83-74) and Shippensburg (82-80). Nate Perry averaged 20.6 in the three games for the Griffins, scoring 28 on two occasions.
Gannon (6-5) picked up two wins in three games the past two weeks. Adam Blazek averaged 20.0 points per game over the stretch, scoring 23 and 16 points in the teams wins over Mansfield (83-57) and Lock Haven (75-62).
Edinboro (5-5) picked up only one win in three games over the past two weeks. The only win came in a 70-61 win over Bloomsburg. Bryan Theriot scored 19 in the victory and averaged 19.0 for the three-game stretch.
Mercyhurst’s (5-5) downward stretch continued as they lost all three games over the past two week. Paul Bilbo averaged 11.3 points per game in the three losses for the Lakers.
Cal (4-7) picked up two wins in their last three. The two wins came against West Chester (69-64) and Cheyney (50-49). The only loss over the past two weeks came in the form of a 78-68 loss to Millersville on the road. Armon Marks posted a 24-point game in the loss.
Clarion (2-6) dropped all three games over the past two weeks. Kromka averaged 15.3 points per game over the three games. DeMarius Miller dropped 34 in the Golden Eagles’ last game.
No PSAC West team plays again until 2014 with all nine teams opening up the new year on the road on Jan. 3.
