QUICK POPS :
PSAC CHAMPIONSHIP
– Originally named the “state game”, the PSAC Championship game ran from 1960-87. From 1988-2007, the PSAC just named divisional champions. The “state game” was reinstated in 2008. Since, the PSAC West champion has won three of the five years.
– Ironically, Slippery Rock and Bloomsburg were scheduled to play each other on the final week of the season. Slippery Rock has won four titles while Bloomsburg has won once.
– During the years where there were just divisional champions, Slippery Rock won or shared the title four years in a rown (1997-2000) while Bloomsburg won the East 10 times.
– Slippery Rock is still the only PSAC West team in the polls, coming in at #18 on the AFCA poll and #12 on the D2football.com poll.
