IUP 42, Shippensburg 21
On a day where De’Antwan Williams broke the single-game school rushing record, the Crimson Hawks closed out the regular season with a win.
Williams rushed for 315 yards and three scores in the win, but he wasn’t the only record setter on the day. Wide out Terrill Barnes went over the 1,000 yard mark on the season, making him the first IUP receiver to do so since 2002. Overall, IUP had 562 yards of total offense.
After scoring three times to start the game in the first quarter, the Hawks cruised to victory.
IUP ends the season with a 9-2 record and sits at #10 in the Division II Super Region One rankings. The top six teams make the postseason and will be announced today at 5 p.m.
Gannon 44, Lock Haven 14
Another game that saw numerous records find new holders, Gannon took down Lock Haven for a resounding season finale.
Gannon took a 31-7 halftime lead and never looked back. Liam Nadler broke the school record for career 300-yard games with a the eight such game in his career. He threw for 348 yards and two scores. Jansen Jones wrapped up his career as the third best rusher in school history, with a 2,823 for his career. He had 191 yards and two scores in the game.
The Golden Knights broke the school’s single-season records for points (361), touchdowns (48) and extra points (45). The 2003 team previously held those records with 347 points, 46 touchdowns and 41 extra points. Gannon also broke the school record for passing first downs with 125, surpassing the previous mark of 119 set in 2004.
As for individual records, Jones set the record for most points scored in a season with 102 and touchdowns with 17, Donnie Mann set a single-season record for PAT’s made and attempted (45/48), freshman and Nick Bengal broke up 15 passes on the year to set the new mark.
Gannon finishes the season 6-5, posting their first winning season since 2010.
Cal U 48, Millersville 14
Nick Grissom and the Vulcan defense led the charge as Cal U ended their season on a high note.
Grissom ran for 48 yards on 16 carries, but scored three times for the Vulcans. Jordan Bowman and Dewey McDonald posted back-to-back defensive touchdowns late in the fourth quarter. After that, the Vulcans cruised to a victory.
They end their season with a 7-4 record and are one of two teams to finish with at least seven wins in every season since 2005.
West Chester 41, Clarion 14
Bobby Thomas ran for 96 yards and a touchdown but could’ve overcome West Chester in the final game of the season.
West Chester’s balanced offense was too much for the Golden Eagles as running back Rondell White ran for 123 yards and quarterback Sean McCartney threw for 316.
The loss puts Clarion at a final 4-7 after starting the season 3-0.
Kutztown 41, Edinboro 10
Edinboro’s hopes of a winning season faded away Saturday as they lost to Kutztown on the final game of the season.
Kutztown’s 24 straight points late in the game kept Edinboro down and out. They tallied 469 total yards of offense on the day. Edinboro quarterback Jon Girvin threw two costly interceptions, but receiver Ben Eisel caught five passes for 123 yards on the day.
The loss brings the Scots to a 5-6 record to close out the season.
Mercyhurst 37, East Stroudsburg 20
Redshirt sophomore Richie Sanders turned in his best performance of his career and the Lakers rolled to close out their season.
Sanders ran for 121 yards on just nine carries. He scored once. Also on the ground attack, Allen Jones II earned his third consecutive 100-yard game with 104 yards and two touchdowns. Sophomore running back, Brandon Brown-Dukes came back from injury and was able to gain enough yards to post his second 1,000 yard season in as many years.
The Lakers finished the season with a 7-4 record.
Seton Hill 17, Cheyney 10
Seton Hill concluded its first season in the PSAC with a victory, its first of the season on Saturday, ending a 23-game skid.
On a game that saw many ups and downs, Seton Hill was able to come out on top. Nick Halfhill threw for 141 yards and ran for another 42 to lead the Griffins. Jarvis McClam also added 86 yards and a score on the day.
The Griffins finish their season with a 1-10 record.
