The Pittsburgh Steelers are in a familiar place that they were in last season. However, it’s not positive and where they want to be.
According to Jeremy Fowler of ESPN, backup quarterback Bruce Gradkowski has a “sizable hamstring tear.” The Steelers have Landry Jones and Dustin Vaughan as their fellow backups to starting quarterback Ben Roethlisberger.
According to Fowler, head coach Mike Tomlin noted that the hamstring injury involves “soft tissue.” As for a timetable on Gradkowski’s injury, Tomlin said he’s expected to be out “a number of weeks.”
Last year, the Steelers had to put Gradkowski on the season-ending injured reserve list after he injured his thumb, which resulted in a surgery.
The Steelers, before training camp, opted not to re-sign veteran quarterback Michael Vick, bringing Vaughan to training camp instead.
The Steelers have yet to announce the future of Gradkowski.
