Pirates fans have been waiting patiently to see what the team will do to improve itself before the July 31 non-waiver trade deadline on Friday. The Pirates have been linked to numerous right-handed outfielders and relievers, but perhaps the most impactful move for the future of the team took place this morning, as Sean McCool of Pirates Prospects reports that the Pirates have promoted their No. 1 prospect Tyler Glasnow to Triple-A Indianapolis.

Glasnow, the No. 7 prospect in all of baseball, has a 2.43 ERA at Double-A Altoona this season in 63 innings.
MLB.com projects that Glasnow will make his major league debut in 2016, in part because an ankle injury suffered earlier this year forced him to the disabled list and slowed down his progress.
On Sunday, Glasnow struck out a season-high 12 batters in the Curve’s 2-0 loss to Altoona.
Glasnow, drafted in the fifth round of the 2011 MLB draft by the Pirates, has posted an ERA under 2.20 in each of his years in the Pirates organization from 2012 to 2014. On the year, with two rehab starts at West Virginia, Glasnow has a 2.50 ERA with a 0.951 WHIP and 88 strikeouts compared to 21 walks.
