According to Andrew Conte of Trib Total Media, Boyd has not been charged with a crime.
Boyd, the consensus No. 1 receiver prospect heading into the 2016 season, told the officers that he only had two shots, according to the report from CBS Pittsburgh. Boyd, 20, would have been able to drive away had he been of age, according to Josh Yohe of DKOnPittsburghSports.com.
“According to police paperwork, the officer who pulled him over said he “smelled the moderate odor of an alcoholic beverage about Boyd,” who said he “had two shots” but did not start drinking until after the NBA Finals game he was watching.”
In a statement released Saturday night, Pitt head coach Pat Narduzzi said that Boyd’s situation is both “serious” and “disappointing.”
“We have high expectations for the young men in our program, on and off the field. Tyler understands that and knows he must be responsible for his actions. Certainly he will be held accountable to our internal standards of discipline and behavior,” Narduzzi said.
No word on discipline has been announced at this time.
