The Pittsburgh Riverhounds announced news late on Wednesday evening that will excite all of their fans.
The Riverhounds have announced that former Hounds midfielder Rob Vincent will return to the team for their match next Saturday against the Charleston Battery. Vincent, who was with the Riverhounds for three seasons, left the Riverhounds for the MLS club D.C. United this season.
The Riverhounds announced that Vincent will only return for the one game against Charleston, as he will be listed as “on loan” from D.C. United.
D.C. United’s loaning of Vincent doesn’t mean Vincent will miss a D.C. United match. The club, as well as other MLS teams, are taking a two-week break for the beginning of the Copa America tournament, which begins on June 3.
For D.C. United, Vincent has appeared in five MLS matches. His first start came on March 12. Vincent has yet to score a goal or nab an assist, but he has attempted a shot. He has played a total of 112 minutes for D.C. United this season.
Vincent, during his time with the Riverhounds, made 88 appearances where he scored 28 goals. Vincent’s most successful season with the Riverhounds occurred last season, where he led the team with 18 goals. Vincent also had six goals in a season that led the Riverhounds to a playoff push. The Riverhounds made the playoffs since 2013 last season.
The Riverhounds will face the New York Red Bulls II this Saturday, at 10 p.m., before they return to Highmark Stadium and face the Charleston Battery. The match is expecting plenty of supporters, as it will be both the first home game for new head coach Dave Brandt and Vincent’s homecoming.
