The Pittsburgh Riverhounds and Columbus Crew SC have come to agreements in the Crew loaning more players to the Riverhounds. The three new loanees from the Crew include Chad Barson, Cristian Martinez and Rodrigo Saravia.
The loanees come at a much needed time for the Riverhounds. Due to his red card against Louisville City FC, defender Mike Green will not be playing against FC Montreal tonight. Also not playing will be Lebo Moloto for his five yellow cards and captain Kevin Kerr, who, according to the Riverhounds, is dealing with travel visa issues. In doubt is defender Sergio Campbell, who is dealing with an upper-body injury.
Barson has played with the Riverhounds once this season. He made an appearance for the Hounds in the preseason, but played against the Charlotte Independence during the regular season. All three players are expected to be dressed against FC Montreal tonight.
With the Crew, Barson has played in five matches this season. Throughout his career, he appeared in 48 matches, accumulating 32 starts, where he helped his team with two assists.
Martinez has only appeared for two times for the Crew, scoring a single goal. In the beginning of this season, Martinez was loaned out to Chorrillo FC, a club in Panama.
Saravia is a rookie with the Crew, as he was selected No. 19 overall in the MLS SuperDraft this year. He appeared in eight games this season, with one start.
The Riverhounds started the year with two Columbus Crew loanees. Marshall Hollingsworth, who has been consistently at the defender position, is still with the team. However, Ben Swanson was placed on the season-ending injury list by the Crew after undergoing a right shoulder surgery, that was successful.
The Riverhounds face FC Montreal tonight at 7 p.m. The match will take place in Montreal, Canada.
