Just a season after winning the big dance, the Kentucky Wildcats fell short of the NCAA Tournament in 2013. They are a number one seed in the National Invitational Tournament, and will be traveling to Robert Morris to take on the number eight seed Colonials, Tuesday night.
After winning the Northeast Conference regular season championship, RMU was given an automatic invitation to the NIT. Some are questioning why Kentucky will be traveling first round, especially to an eight seeds arena, and it is because the NCAA Tournament will play host to NCAA Tournament games this weekend. The Rupp Arena, which is the home of the Kentucky Wildcats, holds close to 24,0oo people. Instead of playing there, they will travel to RMU, and play at the Charles L. Sewall Center, which holds a little over 3,000 people.
The Charles L. Sewall Center is located in Moon Township, which is, ironically, the home of Kentucky head coach, John Calipari.
The Wildcats (21-11) will take on the Colonials (23-10) Tuesday night at 7:30 P.M. The game will be televised on ESPN.
