Ben Roethlisberger has already had a Hall of Fame career with the Pittsburgh Steelers, that carries multiple AFC Championship Titles, two Superbowl Titles and a career record of 97-46. The Steelers haven’t had a franchise quarterback of this caliber since Terry Bradshaw. In 2012, Roethlisberger passed Bradshaw for most passing yards and in 2013, he eclipsed 30,000 yards. Roethlisberger’s wining percentage is the highest among all steelers quarterbacks.
In 2010, Arizona Cardinals quarterback, Derek Anderson was seen on the sidelines laughing and joking with his team down by 21. This past Sunday night, Le’veon Bell was seen on the sidelines laughing and joking with his team down by 21. This week, Roethlisberger called out Bell on his work ethic or lack thereof and even compared him to Heath Miller. Miller, as we, know is coming off a serious knees injury and has worked diligently to get back into the lineup. Some may see this as bush league for calling out a teammate and some may see it as a motivational tool to get on the field.
I see it as a motivational tool. The Steelers have struggled with their running game thus far and nobody wants Bell back more than Roethlisberger to alleviate the pressure.
Roethlisberger has come under fire a bit lately, especially in Sunday’s loss to the Bears. One could say that he was careless with the ball and one could also say that he was running for his life all night trying to make plays down-field. I am 50/50 on this one and I do think Big Ben could have protected the ball better, however, if not for Roethlisberger, the Steelers don’t make a huge comeback in that game.
Furthermore, the Steelers are 14-0 all time when Roethlisberger doesn’t take a sack, 40-4 when Roethlisberger takes two sacks or less, and 54-9 when he takes three sacks or less. In his career, Rothelisberger has been sacked 354 times.
Roethlisberger is without question one of the toughest players in the game today and arguably of all time. He is known for battling through injuries, playing with a broken thumb, a broken nose, broken ribs, etc, etc.
Through all of this, we continue to see Roethlisberger as the consummate professional on the field.
