The Pittsburgh Steelers have announced the release of LeGarrette Blount. Blount has been placed on waivers after last night’s highly publicized walking off the field against the Tennessee Titans due his unhappiness with playing time of late.
With Blount placed on waivers, he is now free to sign with any team that claims him. Meanwhile, the Steelers have serious questions now at running back, with only Dri Archer and practice squad player Josh Harris available in house to back up starter Le’Veon Bell.
A few options that might be a possibility on free agent market include Ben Tate, who was just cut by the Cleveland Browns. Tashard Choice, who spent time with the Cowboys and Bills, and LaRod Stevens-Howling, who spent time with the Steelers last season before a knee injury ended his season.
The Steelers picked a good time to release Blount if they were going to do it, as the team now has the bye week to figure out who might be a viable replacement moving forward.
