You know it has been a bad training camp when you are on your third kicker already, but that is exactly the situation the Pittsburgh Steelers are in.
After a season-ending injury to Shaun Suisham and an injury to his replacement Garrett Hartley, the Steelers are now turning to veteran Josh Scobee.
Scobee was acquired from the Steelers on Monday from the Jacksonville Jaguars. The return the Jaguars are getting from the Steelers wasn’t immediately known.
Scobee was the longest-tenured Jaguars player, having been there since 2004, when he was chosen in the fourth round. The Jags are handing the kicking job over to rookie Jason Myers.
He leaves the Jaguars as the franchise leader in field goals (235) and points scored (1,022). He was entering the final year of his contract, the last season of a four-year, $13.8 million deal.
Hartley suffered a hamstring injury during the Steelers’ 43-19 loss to the Buffalo Bills on Saturday, creating the need for another veteran kicker to be brought in.
The 33-year old Scobee was 3-for-6 on FG from 50-plus yards last season and 20-for-26 overall (76.9%).
