According to a report by ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Pittsburgh Steelers tight ends coach James Daniel is currently under investigation by NFL Security for allegedly assaulting a New England Patriots fan at halftime Thursday night.

The alleged incident with the fan occurred prior to and after half time of the Steelers loss to the Patriots Thursday night. Witnesses said the Steelers coach kicked the back of the fan’s leg as well as yelling at the fan on the way to the locker room.
While being questioned by police and NFL security as he returned to the coaches booth for the second half, Daniel reportedly began shouting at the police officers.
Daniel, 62, has been the Steelers tight ends coach since 2004, is currently in his 12th season with the team and is a two-time Super Bowl Champion. A graduate of Alabama State University, Daniel has been an integral part in helping Heath Miller become one of the top tight ends in Steelers history.
Before his tenure with the Steelers, Daniel coached tight ends and offensive line for the Atlanta Falcons from 1997 t0 2003 and tight ends for the New York Giants from 1993 to 1996.
According to a Steelers spokesman, the team has been made aware of the claim and the Steelers are investigating the incident.
