Kickers are a dime a dozen, right? Well, maybe Pittsburgh fans felt that way prior to this year, but don’t say that to any fans now. After a tumultuous start to the season, which featured three kickers no longer on the team and trading away a late-round draft pick for the longtime Jacksonville Jaguars reliable veteran kicker Josh Scobee, the Steelers finally found success in the kicking game with Chris Boswell.
In his second week with the team, after the Steelers cut Scobee and lost Shaun Suisham and Garrett Hartley to injuries before the season started, Boswell showed why the Steelers may finally have found their guy, as he was named the AFC special teams player of the week.
Boswell went 4 for 4 on field goal attempts on Sunday, which included a long kick of 51 yards. On the season, Boswell is 5 of 5 on field goal attempts.
“I’m just happy I could go out there and make them,” the 24-year-old Boswell said to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. “I’m doing the best I can do and just trying to do my job.”
Boswell will look to continue his success with the Steelers on Sunday, as the team travels to Kansas City to take on the Chiefs at Arrowhead Stadium.
