Antonio Brown and David DeCastro have added another impressive feat to their seasons. The two were named to the Associated Press All-Pro first team, is voted on by a panel of 50 voters that vote on the top player at each position, regardless of their conference.
This is Brown’s second time being named an AP All-Pro, as he was also named in 2014. Brown has racked up more honors than any other Steelers player this year. He was recently named the AFC Offensive Player of the Month for both November and December/January. Brown has also shattered plenty of records this season. He has started 34 consecutive games, which is more than any other active wide receiver.
Also on Brown’s mantle in terms of breaking records is that he is the only NFL player to have back-to-back 1,600 yard seasons. Brown also became the all-time second receiver in receptions, with 136, in a single NFL season. Brown also became only the second player in NFL history to have three consecutive seasons with 110 receptions.
In the Steelers versus Oakland Raiders game, Brown broke team records for most receptions, most receiving yards, and yards from scrimmage. Brown finished the regular season with 136 receptions for 1,834 yards and 10 touchdowns.
Elected to his first first AP All-Pro first team is DeCastro. DeCastro has been a steady force for the Steelers offensive line as he has started all 16 games this season, and even last season. DeCastro has been a leader on the offensive line, a line that has helped the offense earn at least 450 net yards in four straight regular season games, which ties an NFL record. It is because of DeCastro and other offensive line players that the Steelers offensive is ranked first in the AFC and third in the NFL.
Both players, who will play key roles against the Cincinnati Bengals on Saturday, were also elected to the 2016 NFL Pro Bowl, along with quarterback Ben Roethlisberger. It is Brown’s fourth Pro Bowl and DeCastro’s first.
