PITTSBURGH — The Steelers are 0-3 to start the season. With last night’s 40-23 loss to the Chicago Bears, the Steelers have dug themselves into a hole to start the season.
Ben Roethlisberger, despite throwing for 406 yards and two touchdowns, had a tough game all around. Two of his turnovers were returned for touchdowns by the Bears defense, and he was hit hard a lot by the Bears defense as the game went along. Antonio Brown did play a spectacular game for the Steelers, catching nine passes for 196 yards and two touchdowns. His second touchdown was a one handed catch in which he was able to drag his two feet, and it’s a play you’ll be seeing on the highlight reels for a longtime to come.
The running game struggled again for the Steelers, as the rushing leader this week, Jonathan Dwyer, finished the night with 39 yards.
At one point in the game, the Steelers trailed 24-3. They did their best to fight back into the game, and were eventually able to cut the score to 27-23. That was the closest the Steelers would get though, as the Bears iced the game away on an unbelievable 17-yard touchdown catch from Martellus Bennett.
Heath Miller made his return for the Steelers, and caught three passes for 35 yards. Nine different Steelers caught a pass in the game.
The defense stepped up at certain points in the game. They didn’t have record any turnovers, and it definitely wasn’t their best showing, but they got a couple big stops to help put the Steelers back into the game. Cornerback Ike Taylor played a pretty solid game, as he, for the most part, shut down Brandon Marshall. Other than a 41-yard catch from Marshall, Taylor held him in check as he finished the night with 52 total receiving yards.
Shaun Suisham was three for three in field goal attempts.
The Steelers, for the first time since 2000, are 0-3 after their 40-23 loss to the Bears, and need to turn it around soon in hopes of a winning season. Next weeks game takes place in London, as the Vikings will host the Steelers for a 1 P.M. EST kickoff.
