Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger was taken to the locker room in the middle of the second quarter with a left-knee injury. His return to today’s game versus the Miami Dolphins is questionable.
Roethlisberger was injured after throwing an interception, his first pick in three games. Dolphins defensive end Jordan Phillips hit the quarterback’s foot from behind on a rollout, which affected Roethlisberger’s knee. Rothelisberger then limped off the field, helped by Dr. Jim Bradley.
Rothelisberger has been the driving force of Pittsburgh’s high-octane offense. In 2016, he’s thrown 15 touchdowns and has a 106.6 quarterback rating.
The 34-year-old quarterback does have history with injuries.
Backup quarterback Landry Jones entered the game in Roethlisberger’s place. Other backup, Zach Mettenberger, is inactive for today’s game.
On the first drive with Jones, Pittsburgh ran the ball three of four times, which fans can expect to see a lot more of if Roethlisberger is unable to return.
The Steelers currently trail the Dolphins, 9-8 with less than two minutes to go in the first half.
