The Pittsburgh Steelers completed their NFL Draft weekend by signing 12 undrafted rookie free agents.
The 12 players, along with the Steelers eight draft picks, will take part in the team’s rookie minicamp, which will be start on Friday, May 8 and wrap up on Sunday, May 10.
Of the 12 rookie free agents signed, nine are offensive players and three are defensive players.
Miles Diffenbach, a 6-foot-3, 303-pound guard from Fox Chapel High School and Penn State University is the only local product of the group. Diffenbach was a three-year starter at Penn State.
6-foot, 204-pound running back Ross Scheuerman also went to school in Pennsylvania, attending Lafayette College in Easton, Pa.
With the Steelers not drafting an offensive lineman over the weekend, they loaded up on undrafted players at the position. Diffenbach will be joined by four other offensive linemen: guards Reese Dismukes from Auburn and Collin Rahrig of Indiana, center B.J. Finney from Kansas State and tackle Kevin Whimpey of Utah State.
Joining 6-foot-7 fifth-round pick Jesse James (Penn State) will be another tight end with impressive measurables. At 6-foot-5 and 277 pounds, Cameron Clear of Texas A&M is bigger than some offensive linemen.
Rounding out the offensive playes is a pair of wide receivers: 6-foot-2 Tyler Murphy of Boston College and 5-foot-10 Eli Rogers from Louisville.
On the defensive side, all three players are linemen. Defensive tackle Nigel Crawford-Kinney is from Division-II Saint Augustine’s University in Raleigh, North Carolina.
Defensive ends Dominque Davis (Liberty) and Bradon Prate (Illinois State) are the final two members of the 2015 UDFA class.
