The Pittsburgh Steelers made their first roster move of training camp on Wednesday when they released linebacker Shawn Lemon and signed defensive back Jordan Sullen.
The Steelers had high hopes for Lemon, a 26-year old prospect from the Canadian Football League. But he opened up camp on the PUP list, suffering from a strained Achilles tendon.
Taking his place on the roster is Sullen, who has a little bit of NFL experience.
The 25-year old Sullen went undrafted out of Tulane and spent some time on the Steelers practice squad in 2014. Since then, he has also had brief stops with the Chicago Bears and Denver Broncos.
The organization must have thought highly of Sullen to bring him back.
While at Tulane, Sullen had 96 tackles, 20 pass break-ups, three interceptions and one forced fumble.
The likely scenario is Sullen is just a depth piece for camp as the Steelers already have one corner, rookie Senquez Golson, out of practice with a shoulder injury.
