The Pittsburgh Steelers have had a busy morning, coming to terms on deals with two of their draft picks.
The Steelers signed fourth-round pick cornerback Doran Grant, and one of their sixth-round selections, linebacker/defensive end Anthony Chickillo.
Financial terms of the contracts were not immediately released.
Grant, an Ohio State product, was selected No. 121 overall and started 30-of-54 games for the Buckeyes. He was an All-Big Ten selection last season and finished his career at Ohio State with 146 tackles, nine interceptions, 20 pass breakups and one sack.
In college, Grant was aggressive in coming up to play the run and also has the speed and physicality to hold his own in man coverage. He could compete for playing time right off the bat in the Steelers’ sub-packages and is also expected to make a contribution on special teams.
Chickillo was taken No. 212 overall out of the University of Miami. He could be a real sleeper in the Steelers draft class. Chickillo started 47-of-50 games for the Hurricanes, recording 170 tackles, 15.5 sacks, two forced fumbles, five fumble recoveries and five pass breakups in his career.
At 6-foot-3, 267 pounds, Chickillo is a bit of a tweener in terms of where to play him, but he has a lot of potential and should be a nice depth piece on the Steelers defense.
The Steelers have now signed three of their eight draft picks.
