The Pittsburgh Steelers have signed veteran quarterback Michael Vick and placed backup quarterback Bruce Gradkowski on the injured reserve list.
Vick, 35, signed a one-year contract with the Steelers, the details of which were not disclosed by the club.
In 2014, Vick started in three games for the New York Jets, going 1-2, with his lone win coming against the Steelers on November. He finished the season 64-for-121 for 604 yards, two touchdowns, three interceptions and a 68.3 passer rating.
Vick, noted for his mobility, also added 153 yards rushing on 26 carries, which was a 5.88 yards per carry average.
He is entering his 13th NFL season. Before his one season in New York, he spent five years with the Philadelphia Eagles from 2009 to 2013 and six seasons with the Atlanta Falcons, who drafted him first overall out of Virginia Tech in the 2001 NFL draft.
Vick was out of football from 2007 to 2008 while serving 21 months in prison on federal dog fighting charges.
Gradkowski, 32, will see his season end before it begun. He was placed on the injured reserve list following finger and shoulder injuries suffered in Sunday’s preseason game against the Green Back Packers.
He underwent surgery on his hand today, and his shoulder injury may require surgery, as well.
The Pittsburgh native is on the final year of a three-year contract with the Steelers. In his first two seasons with the Steelers, Gradkowski entered only one game and did not attempt a pass.
