The Pittsburgh Steelers are in the process of finalizing a two-year contract with free agent RB LeGarrette Blount. Blount will come in to Pittsburgh and immediately be the primary backup to starter Le’Veon Bell. Blount will also be used as the Steelers primary short-yardage and goal-line running back.
Blount had received interest from several teams, including the Ravens, Patriots, and Steelers. The four-year veteran is 6-foot, 1-inch and weighs 250lbs. Last season with New England, Blount rushed for 772 yards and seven touchdowns. That included 189 yards and two touchdowns in a Week 17 win over Buffalo. He also rushed for 166 yards and four touchdowns in a playoff game against the Indianapolis.
Blount has rushed for 2,711 yards and 20 touchdowns in his NFL career, playing for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers before spending last season in New England.
